Cast iron pans.


I love cast iron pans.  We have at least four in our house.  We are constantly reseasoning them and they have never been done right. After watching Mad Hunger on Hallmark I realized we have been doing it all wrong and cooking the wrong foods in it.  We will be reseasoning all of our cast iron.  Fill your new cast-iron pan with 1/2 inch of vegetable oil.  Put it in a 200-degree oven for 90 minutes. Afterward, discard the oil and wipe the pan clean. The first few times you use it, coat the cooking surface with oil.  You can reseason your pan a few more times to get a good coat.  Acidic foods and alcohol will take the seasoning off your pans so try and avoid these types of foods.  Here is a link to Mad Hunger that has a GREAT way to cook an egg.  Enjoy!
